He started<strong> \u2018Basic education system\u2019<\/strong> popularly known as <strong>Wardha Scheme of Education<\/strong> in 1937 to impart skill training in <strong>Sewagram Ashram ( Gandhi Ashram)<\/strong> at Wardha. The basic concept was <strong>\u2018 Learn by Doing\u2019.<\/strong> He believed in combination of hand culture and mind culture in education. He characterized Basic Education as<strong> \u201c Education for Life\u201d<\/strong> . Since then Basic Education came to be Known as<strong> \u2018Nai Talim\u2019.<\/strong> He was the strong supporter of concept i.e.<strong> Science for Villages.<\/strong><br \/>\nHe introduced Basic Craft in spinning and weaving, carpentry, agriculture, fruit and flower cultivation, leather work, fish culture, pottery, any handicraft according to the local need, home science for girls.<br \/>\nSome of the above courses are still running in Sewagram Ashram at Wardha.
